Apprentice Needed by Obert Skye

The second installment of Wizard for Hire was simply ok. The story moved along enough and didn't seem to suffer from sophomore book syndrome, which I appreciated. At times though, it really felt like a jumbled mess. Unless I sat down with a notepad while I was reading and charted down all the places they visited, I couldn't really tell you what happened. Sigi and Ozzy visit New York for a day... Rin returns... (not until 120 pages into the book, mind you) Ozzy is drawn to the ocean... and some bounty hunter is following them around. That's really the basic premise here. Clark the bird was the only thing that kept the story original and fresh. Rin was so annoying I wanted to smack him upside the head half the time. He reads more like an escaped lunatic from an asylum than a wizard. There's a bit of magic in here, but certainly not enough to satisfy you, so heads up there. For me, this series is just... forgettable. In a year or so, I'll probably have forgotten that I read it. I have nothing really negative to say. It's just.... meh.
