The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory

3.0

It is difficult to make a book enjoyable when the protagonist is such an unpleasant human being. Still, Gregory manages to craft a tale - based as much on historical evidence as drama allows - that pulls you in and entertains. It fumbles a bit at the end when the perspective shifts from Margaret's first-person perspective to an omniscient battlefield narrator, but otherwise remains engaging with a wicked little kick at the end. RECOMMENDED.
