Having my Hunger Games renaissance a year late fr.
The pacing is so good. Read this in one sitting. Collins’ social commentary is also extremely astute and does not feel outdated but rather more pertinent than ever given the genocide currently happening in Palestine and how that is portrayed in the media.
Clove (and Isabelle Fuhrman who plays her in the movie adaptation) was most likely my queer awakening at 12 years old when I first read this… she remains an icon. I still want to learn to throw knives. I’m aware this may have been the wrong takeaway from the novel lol.
