The back of the book tells pretty much what I could say about it without spoilers. Ijon Tichy ends up in a distant future (2039, not that distant now) that is at least on the surface all fun and games. As long as one takes all the medications one needs. Shockingly everything isn't as fantastic as it seems and things get weirder and weirder.
Funny thing, I read this novel in Finnish something like 30 years ago after my father recommended it. I don't think I got as much out of it then as I did in these two sittings it took to fly through. The amazing thing is that I remembered some key things still after all these years. Take it as you will, as a recommendation or a warning :D
