Book 99: My Shadow is Pink and My Shadow Is Purple by Scott Stuart
Reviewing these picture books together. Picked up this book after a teacher in Georgia got fired for reading one of the books to her 5th grade class.
Synopsis: Pink: My Shadow is Pink is a beautifully written rhyming story that touches on the subjects of gender identity, self acceptance, equality and diversity.
Purple: A heartwarming and inspiring book about being true to yourself and moving beyond the gender binary,
Review: After reading these books, I am not sure why a teacher would be fired. And the district that fired her did not offer exactly why she was fired either except to say the book was “divisive”. Read the books for yourself and decide. I thought both books were sweet. My rating 4⭐️.
