The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King

5.0

This book picks up straight on the end of The Gunslinger. The Gunslinger is asleep on the beach and he wakes up to Lobstrocities and the story continues. I was blown away by the savaging of Roland at the start of this book. My hero was going to suffer and maybe die (ok, I knew he wouldn't but I feared for him!).
The Drawing of the Three gave a unique insight into how Roland would behave in our world or a world very similar to it. The characters we meet are developed and unique and curious in the sense that we want them to be perfect but they never are nor never will be. Roland must make do with what is drawn for him.

I really enjoyed the characters and the stepping through the doors. The book is heavy going in a way that The Gunslinger wasn't and as such I'll break up the series a bit although I do want to immerse myself in them as much as I can.

I loved it!
