I just finished this book and I am still being held like a child by its magic. Isabel Allende is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. This is the fourth book of hers I have read and it was wonderful.
It is a memoir rather than her usual fiction so I won’t compare to those - but, my Goddess, do I love her writing.
She wrote this book while at the bedside of her dying daughter while she was in a coma. She wanted to tell her all the things, all the feelings, everything a mother wants her child to know about her. That is a huge task but Allende did that and more. Without ever becoming morose or precious.
Read this book.
