Just as terrifying as 1984 but in a targeted, painful way. Im not sure if 'Historical Notes' is simply an expository device but to me it feels like it's supposed to make the reader hate ourselves a little bit. Youve just spent months watching women being tortured mentally (and sometimes physically) by institutions and society only for this smarmy dickhead "expert" to crack jokes and couch his statements with "ohh but it was a different time we musnt judge too harshly" from the comfort of his podium. No that's stupid. Fuck you pieixoto, fuck gilead, fuck nazis, kiss your dad on the lips. Nolite te bastardes carborundorum.
Graphic: Sexual assault
Moderate: Torture
