I clearly have a type of rom-com I'm attracted to - nerdy girl finds perfect guy. The Soulmate Equation requires suspending your disbelief in quite a few ways, but I still really liked it. When the owner of GeneticAlly pairs with Jess in an unprecedented 98% match, their relationship becomes real and public without either party intentionally initiating it. To me, that takes this novel into a unique plot from most rom-coms. Jess and Dr. River Pena are both dynamic characters and Jess's daughter and family bonds make her very relatable and easy to like as a protagonist. (3.5/5 stars.)
