Betwixt by Darynda Jones
4.0

I'm a huge fan of Darynda Jones. I devoured every book in the Charlie Davidson series, impatiently waiting for the next one.

Betwixt left me a little bemixed. While I adore Darynda's writing style infused with sarcasm and humor, like others I did notice a lot of similarities with the Charlie series. Be that as it may, it did NOT stop me from thoroughly enjoying this book and reading it in just a few days. (probably could've done it in one sitting, but ya know, life.)

The MC Defiance is such a hoot. And I noticed several reviewers criticizing her because they didn't think forty-somethings talk like that. WTF! Do you think once a person is past the age of... or I don't know.... 35 that we become these trodden down, old people who suddenly forget who they are, and settle into a life of a grandma? I mean come on! That's utter bullshite. You're only as old as you believe.

Defiance was great and I loved her interactions with her sidekick Annette. And yes, I did notice similarities between them and Charlie and Cookie in the Davidson Series, but that's okay, that's what made me fall in love with that series.

My only real complaint is I would have liked to see more heat between Defiance and the hottie in the kilt but I'm hoping that ramps up in the next book, which I will absolutely read.

Thanks, Darynda for creating another lit set of characters and showing the world there is life beyond forty. Or so I've heard. LOL
