A dark atmospheric novel that drops you right into a small town in Maine riddled with drugs. Babs Dionne is the criminal matriarch of the town and she is a complex character who you are rooting for even while uncovering some of her majorly unpleasant traits. This novel was unique in that it was set in inside a Franco-American-Canadian community and touched a lot on how white privilege doesn’t extend to all white people. This novel was heartbreaking but you couldn’t look away. The story was told from multiple POVs and meandered through, making it feel like you were there versus a more fast paced mystery.
