Wow. I can’t believe I did not review this book after I finished it. I listened to the Meryl Streep audiobook and I cried when it was over. Her narration on top of the brilliance of the writing was such a gift and is truly a must read to anyone in the theatre. I did not know I was going to read a book about a summer stock doing Cabaret, Our Town, and Fool For Love (all shows very intertwined into my theatre training) and that surprise was so magical. This book reignited that childlike love for theatre in me and I have been recommending it to everyone! Even if you do not like audiobooks, you just HAVE to listen to Meryl read this one - it’ll be something you will never forget.
