Bourbon and Secrets by Victoria Wilder
🎧 Narrated by Megan Wicks & Lee Samuels
📚 Book 2 of the Bourbon Boys series
This installment dives into Lincoln’s story, and as someone who was excited about the sexy, glasses wearing bourbon boy, this one delivered a lot of what I was hoping for…just not everything. Lincoln is Hadley’s best friend, a little flirt with Laney in book one, and a total soft spot as a single dad, which is one of my favorite tropes.
Victoria Wilder’s writing continues to impress me with clever twists and suspenseful reveals. Just when you think you’ve figured something out, she flips it on you. The romantic suspense in this series is so addictive, and this book adds another intriguing layer to the overarching mystery, including deeper connections to Hadley’s father, the FBI which involves Del’s ex-wife. It’s all woven together so well.
I absolutely loved Faye’s character. A burlesque dancer and a private investigator? Iconic. Her “cover” for her PI work is genius, and she added a bold, confident energy that worked well with Lincoln’s steady, thoughtful vibe.
As for the audiobook, Megan Wicks nailed Faye’s personality with her narration. I do wish Lee Samuels had given Lincoln a slightly softer, more tender tone, especially considering the emotional side of his story, but overall the narration didn’t take away from the experience.
While Grant’s book is still my favorite plot-wise, Lincoln remains my favorite bourbon boy. The spice was hot, the mystery engaging, and now I’m eagerly waiting for Bourbon and Proof, Ace’s story, to wrap up the series!
