Assistant to The Villain is about a sunshine-y Evie Sage who finds herself the assistant to The Villain. She isn’t sure how she feels about it at first, especially witnessing how gruesome The Villain can be. However, she finds herself realizing all of the good in the Villain, even if he will never show it to everyone else.

I am realizing now, that I am apparently in the minority. But I really enjoyed the humor in this story. The bickering between Evie and The Villain was hilarious to me. The angst and tension between them could have been better, and it definitely needed more action (more than one kiss please) since it is considered an adult book. I didn’t realize until after reading it that it isn’t a YA book.

I thought I had the book figured out, however, I did not. The ending kinda threw me for a loop, even though it was right in front of my face the entire time.

I disliked that it didn’t have the moment when they finally give into their feelings. I was waiting for that throughout the book. While I know that it can’t have had that with how the story ended and the continuation of the series. I was really looking forward to when they would give into themselves.

I’m not mad that it ended on a cliffhanger because I feel like a lot of things need to be brought together for a cohesive ending. But I’m kind of sad that I read it now and the 2nd book doesn’t come out until August.
