If I Fix You by Abigail Johnson

4.0

When I was approached to read with the chance of a review If I Fix You, it didn't take me long to say yes. Not only is the cover stunning (I'm a judger of covers) but the synopsis also drew me in. I had to know more about Sean, Daniel, and the reason her Mum left.

Jill is someone who was very easy to like, for me she is the perfect mix of girly girl and tomboy. She isn't afraid to get dirty and greasy, especially if it means getting under the bonnet of a car in need of repair. She is a strong and determined girl and seeing what she has gone through makes this even more apparent. I love the relationship she has with her Dad, how they work well together and make thier garage work. He would go to the ends of the earth for her....or even an auction to get her dream car. After seeing what happened with her Mum I felt so sorry for Jill and how it affected her.
Sean is someone we see through Jill's eyes, and we initially see the bad bits, the parts that are stuck in her mind and made her question her feelings for him. But with Claire as the buffer Jill is able to tolerate his presence in small doses.

If I Fix You was a book I could not put down and finished it quickly. There was a lot more going on within the pages than I initially expected, but I love how it all played out and connected together. We have Sean who Jill has loved for years, but has to push that love aside. Daniel is the new neighbour, who comes from a broken home and has his own issues, but is someone who Jill can relate to as well as talk to. There are a lot of shock revelations and twists I never saw coming, but in the reveal itself we find out what the true meaning of that word means.

Throughout the pages we see a lot of loose ends tied, but most importantly we see Jill's journey of self discovery, finding out out who she really is, what she is capable of, as well as the closure she desperately needed in order to continue with her life and her friendships.

Final Verdict
If I Fix You is a book that I really enjoyed, and although another book is in the works that doesn't directly follow If I Fix You, I can't wait to read it. Abigail is an author on my watch list and I can't wait to see what comes next.
