The Wildcat by Bella Matthews

5.0

This is book 2 in the Playing to Win series by Bella, it is second gen of the previous characters. Everly is the daughter of Annabelle & Declan (Always Earned, Never Given) and professional cheerleader for the Philadelphia Kings. Everly is out celebrating her birthday when she meets Cross. They have a crazy night together and then she leaves it up to fate if they see each other again. Fate intervenes when she finds his daughter taking a dance class at her mom’s studio.

Everly is strong and independent while Cross is protective and enjoys routines. Everly doesn’t do serious, but Cross is the single father of two and he doesn’t do casual. Can they compromise in order to act on the chemistry between them? I loved the way that Everly tried, she knew it wouldn’t be easy but it was what she really wanted and Cross said he would always chase her. The way that Everly’s family welcomes Cross and his kids into the family was everything I love about Bella’s writing: it is founded on strong family and friend relationships. Seeing Everly fall in love with Kerrigan & Jax was just as special as watching her fall for Cross.

This is a must read if you enjoy hockey, protective alpha single dads, no 3rd act breakups and large crazy families.
