It feels so bittersweet to have finally finished the Edens series! I loved this series so much and I am glad I read it but also so sad to be parting with the Edens! They were such a fun family to read about but that was a perfect ending to have it in Harrisons POVđ„č
Sable Peak all in all was a good read, Mateo as an mmc communicated well, especially compared to his brothers/ the other mmcâs (from memory anyway), leading him to be a great support beam for Vera who barely wanted to communicate about her crush nor her past much less just move forward with her life (understandably but still slightly exhausting too). I fear though that had Vera not drunkenly kissed Mateo sheâd have just sat there doing nish whilst expecting Mateo to be aware of her feelings, that she never made clear to begin with, and still do the chase. Mateo was a patient lad but my patience ran thin.đŹ
Whilst I LOVE the single parent trope I kind of liked that Allie didnât overtake the story, Mateo being a single dad wasnât his sole characteristic, we knew him as a pilot, an Eden Man (iykyk) and the all round dream man (again an Eden man trait).
I am a liiittle disappointed with how the Cormac plot line was concluded though, instead wanting a happier solution for both Vera and Cormac as they deserved that, the chosen path is still happy for them but for how long can that outcome be sustained, it has to get exhausting for Vera and Cormac to constantly be looking over their shoulder and Cormac wouldnât be a sane man after a decade living that way. Just wouldâve wanted a more peaceful ending, this wasnât âletting goâ for Vera, she is still clutching to that past by âharbouring a fugitiveâ in their backyard instead of making the steps to find justice (?) and normalcy for Cormac granted he is guilty as hell but maybe the circumstances could help? Anyway her and Mateo now have this huge secret between them and the rest of the family which taints the whole Eden family vibe that was built, Annie knows everything but she somehow lives without ever getting an inkling Mateo is HARBOURING A FUGITIVE?
Moderate: Child death, Death of parent
Minor: Addiction
