They wanted to kill her, so this Vhalla would die, she resolved, and a new Vhalla would be born from her ashes.
it starts a little bit slow but at the same time intriguing and then? boom just gets better and better!! i didn't really like vhalla at first i mean you have magic and you decline to learn more? cmon don't be dumb but as the story goes she definitely grown faster on me and kinda respect her decision but still don't understand but respect it and the way she started to get closer to the crown prince and their banter so the book started to be really good and vhalla's love for books was also a good thing indeed and the magic system is also really interesting with the whole elemental magic and all and how there's not been a windwalker for ages and now there is yeah i liked it, im not the biggest fan of chosen one trope anymore but in this was also intriguing and fun!!
aldrik from the start is a really fun character, an asshole sometimes but who could blame him? he was telling the truth and their banter? yes i need to read the second book! i got to see their development specially from aldrik's side and how sometimes he could let her see the real him and how they started to care for each other it was cute and i need more so give it to me in the second book! i went with low expectations and im so so glad i had the best time and even tho im not fully obsessed and might not be 5 stars but i really liked the characters, specially aldrik and how vhalla grow truly on me and now i just feel the need to protect her, i really loved the magic system and tho this feels like a 2010s fantasy book, still so entertaining and the little moments between vhalla and aldrik ugh so good sometimes i may dare to say, a little bit better than actual sm*t but yeah ehehe the things aldrik sometimes said to her, i was giggling im sorry im simply a woman andkd need to read more scenes of them like that and the way he could let the empire burn for her? to keep her save? can't wait for more of that in the rest of the series truly!! AND THAT ENDING?? THAT QUOTE? vhalla isn't going to play SHE'S GOING TO FIGHT AND BE BETTER AND SO MUCH STRONGER AND IM SO READY FOR THAT! she wasn't really weak at the beginning, definitely more shy and could prefer books over people and parties but after that? after what those pieces of shit did to her? oh no no she's stronger and she's not that innocent anymore and i just know she's ready to fight and to succeed so im so ready for that let's go!!
The frightened faces of the senators came back to Vhalla with vivid clarity. They were sending her to war, so she would go and become something they had every right to fear.
