She Was The Quiet One by Michele Campbell
5.0
I absolutely loved this book! This was my first venture into Adult Thrillers and it did not disappoint!
After Rose and Bel’s mother dies, the twins Grandmother sends them to the prestigious private boarding school their parents attended. Following the lives of Rose and Bel, as well as their dorm parents, Heath and Sarah Donovan, She Was the Quiet One really makes you question how well you really know someone.
Twin sisters Rose and Bel couldn’t be more different. Bel is rebellious and beautiful. Rose is intelligent and sticks to the rules. When the girls arrive at Odell, Bel immediately befriends senior who aren’t the best influences while Rose uses the opportunity she has been given as best as she can. As the two sisters grow further and further apart, a sibling rivalry like no other results in lies, deceit and threats.
Heath and Sarah Donovan have the perfect marriage, the perfect family. However just below the surface lies deceit, doubt and lies. Heath doubts Sarah’s devotion. Sarah ignores her concerns, even when she is sent anonymous messages about her husbands supposed affair with a student.
This book was so compelling! I couldn’t stop reading, the writing was addictive! I loved how all the different topics were covered, sibling rivalry, cyber and regular bullying, privilege and power, ambition, deception and manipulation, infidelity and murder. Seeing how these characters could so easily turn on one another, while others went to extreme lengths to try and ignore what was happening.
I found that the murderer wasn’t a big shock but I really loved that! Normally I like to be surprised (I rarely am) but for this book, I felt that it was perfectly executed.
Overall I really loved this book and would definitely recommend it, especially to people who are looking to get into Adult Thrillers.
