I might have enjoyed the book more had I read and not listened to it, eventually I had to listen at 1.25 speed to get through it. The descriptions and characterization made it feel like it should have been in 1st person so whenever the MCs name was used in narrative it threw me off. I feel like the book didn't quite know what it was, it felt like a character driven book maskarading as a plot driven story.
I enjoyed it enough to finish it, but it didn't feel completely cohesive.
