The Perfect Child
by Lucinda Berry
Wow. Just wow. This story was a real page turner, I read the last 250 pages of it in the span of one day. I'm a sucker for psychological thrillers, and the author having a background in childhood trauma makes it all the more intriguing as the episodes described in the book are accurate to the real-life behaviors of abused children. I can't, however, get past the fact that there is NOT an ending. The way things were left off, I really hope there will be a part two. But even if there were a second novel, I'm not sure I'd read it. Christopher as a character was infuriating, and I'm not really sure I care enough about the rest of the family to follow up with how this story will end. I guess I will never know what happens to Janie.
