The Mystery of the Emeralds by Kathryn Kenny, Paul Frame

3.0

Erm...a little spooked to find out that I have already read this book four years ago, and I have almost no memory of doing so. The book itself is entertaining, but the characters all seem a little like caricatures and Trixie is way too hyped up about stuff. I liked that we got a bit of a history lesson about Washington DC and the Underground railroad. The insertion of complicated words was too obvious and made me wince every time it happened. Nevertheless, I was in the mood for a middle-grade mystery (yes, I have very specific cravings) and this book fit the bill.
