The Green Mile: The Complete Serial Novel by Stephen King

dark emotional

4.5

This book's narration differs from the other King books I've read in the sense that it takes place in both the past and the future, but I recognised the internal monologue as strictly King. The dark and horrible had me intrigued, and by the half-way mark I was hooked, which I hadn't been earlier. I doubted the “chapbook” style that King had published this book in, and sometimes it felt as if King was as clueless as the reader about what was going to happen in the next episode. But as per usual King provides excellence and I shouldn't have doubted him, even though this was a bit different from the earlier King works’ I've read and the first half didn’t really grip me. I'll end my review with this; STICK WITH IT TO THE END! IT'S WORTH IT! The feeling of finally seeing the pieces of the puzzle (that you didn't even KNOW was a puzzle) fit together is just *chef's kiss* 👨🏻‍🍳👌🏼
