This book will definitely haunt me for a while. I was horrified the entire time I was reading it.
The exploration of how heteronormative relationships play out is really heartbreaking and relatable. It puts the expectation of women being super ambitious and yet willing to sacrifice themselves in honor of a nuclear family. Hailey both shows this, and subverts it by mirroring that behavior with our female protagonist Evelyn.
I'm really unsure of if I liked it, but I am definitely haunted by it.
