David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants
by Malcolm Gladwell
with each new gladwell book i read, i always start to question my ratings for the previous ones. this book is categorically better than what the dog saw and blink. it's engaging throughout. it's not so much activist as inquisitive. etc. but definitely doesn't feel like a "4 star book" to me. i don't really take issue with the inaccuracies or the selective reading of data. these books were never meant to be rigorous academic works. and i don't mind that gladwell books often feel like the same book rehashed for a millionth time. he has a voice. he's a good storyteller. my main issue with david and goliath is that it's just so unfocused. battling giants too often became taking on conventional wisdom which became anecdotes with a barely discernible power imbalance.
