Bryant & May and the Bleeding Heart: A Peculiar Crimes Unit Mystery
by Christopher Fowler
Not as simple as a Who-done-it, when we're involved in the Peculiar Crimes Unit of the London detective force. The team is fantastic and eccentric! They are headquartered in a not-so-nice building, which is halfheartedly being maintained by a man or two named Dave. Everyone's desk is personally suited to their methods, be it related to dark magic or Hygge, or covered with scampering kittens. Yes, a litter of kittens lives in the detective headquarters. No one thinks this is unusual.
The crime here is impossible to guess. The connections are far-flung. I got more interested in the group of unique and fascinating characters, and I enjoyed mentally following them around the Bloomsbury district, with my decade-old pocket-size [b:London A-Z|119139|London A-Z|Geographers' A-Z Map Company|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1347940099s/119139.jpg|114701] at my elbow.
