The author pulled off writing such a relatable loveable monster. I am so pleased. I really loved this book. It’s such a delightful book. It is bizarre and it is precious. The delivery from the narrator, Carmen Rose, is so perfectly deadpan for Shesheshen. I would not call this a horror book in the scary sense but rather it is wacky and contains a certain amount of gore and dark themes.
The first half I would give it five stars, second half wasn’t as delightfully whimsical for me so I bumped it down a quarter star. Still one of my favourite reads this year though.
