A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

Really, what can be said about this book that has not already been said? I loved this book and couldn't stop reading it... which is significant considering the fact that I have seen both season 1 and season 2 of the HBO series. This means that while I hadn't read the books I still knew everything that was going to happen... and yet I couldn't stop myself from flipping anxiously page to page to see what was next. I think that is a testament to the writing and the story itself... that it could hold its audience so captive even when they already know what is going to happen. I only wish I had heard of the series before the show came out. I don't know how I missed the boat on that one... it would have been interesting to read it without the pictures of the characters from the show in my head. All and all a great read. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Once I get past the second book I will be in virgin territory and therefore be able to enjoy the rest of the series without the influence of the show. ;)
