Belle's Tale by Mallory Reaves

5.0

Belle's Tale by Mallory Reeves is a graphic novel version of our beloved story, as it was told in the recent live action movie remake. It follows Belle, who sacrifices herself in order to save her father and ends up imprisoned in the Beast's castle. But Belle doesn't know that the castle's inhabitants are under the curse and now they hope that she may be the one to help them break it.

I don't read mangas or graphic novels very often, but when I saw that it's supposed to be based on the Beauty and the Beast remake, I just had to read it! And I have to say that I absolutely enjoyed it. The story will probably be known to those of you who are fans of the original tale or Disney movies, but making it only from Belle's POV puts a little spin on it. Also, the art was amazing. I was impressed with how evocative it was, especially in the parts where the story was told only through images, without words.

I definitely think it's a great addition to the Beauty and the Beast world and would appeal to all fans of the tale "as old as time".

I have kindly received a copy of this book from Diamond Book Distributors and Tokyopop via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
