r4mtha 's review for:
Gardens of the Moon
by Steven Erikson
I picked it up and put it down a few times before it hit its rhythm, but once it did I was hooked. Scope and complexity rivals ASOIF or Stormlight Archive — and this is only book 1 of 10.
Pace is slow at first, but the characters are all sympathetic even though the represent opposing factions, and before long I found myself really liking all of them. Once the plot heats up, there are some epic twists and battles, and a steady build towards an interesting climax that sets up multiple exciting journeys and challenges for the next book.
