Christianity: The First Three Thousand Years by Diarmaid MacCulloch

4.0

4.5 stars. McCulloch's coverage of Islam, Judaism, feminism in Christianity, and the racism and hypocrisy in Christianity as it relates to black adherents is much better than I would have anticipated from a historian, especially given recent biographical and historical works I've read. An overall quite thorough look at Christianity's rise, various branches and sects within Christianity, and where the religion is headed without feeling overly academic.
