The Blackwoods by Brandy Colbert
- Plot- or character-driven? A mix
- Diverse cast of characters? Yes
4.0
Solid standalone! I enjoy celebrity romances, and while this is a YA not a romance, and it's about a famous family rather than an individual, it worked for me. I liked all three POV characters, especially Blossom, and especially liked the ending it was really lovely and beautiful how Kimberly was remembered at her gala, and I loved the humanity she was given, and the emphasis that her addiction struggles didn't negate the good that she did . I felt like the book could have been longer (I liked spending time with the characters and wanted to see where they went more in their stories), but it is a solid standalone, with completed character arcs.
Recommended for people who like celebrity stories, hidden family secrets, and multi POV.
