First let me say that this was a wonderful, amazing book....some parts of it were hard to read, because they were disturbing and dark (ie sexual abuse), but don't let that put you off of reading it. It's a realistic book, not a badly-written beach read, and, sometimes, to write well, you have to write hard and clear about what hurts. That's what is happening here. It is dark, but it is beautiful, and stunning, and - ultimately - uplifting. Turtle (the main character) is so alive she jumps off the pages, and the book is well-written, and captivating.
