NC-17 because Adriana Herrera likes it 🌶️🔥
If you're still starry eyed from the In the Heights movie or you miss having new episodes of Jane the Virgin, this book is definitely for you. Adriana Herrera's books focus on telling the story of Latinx people and giving them happy endings--this book does not disappoint!!
After being rejected by her father all her life, Esmeralda has one week to claim her right as the CEO of his successful film studio... The catch? She has to work with her ex-boyfriend who broke her heart 10 years earlier to succeed. Can you imagine if you had the most important job interview of your life and your ex-boyfriend was part of the hiring panel? Oof, no thanks, I'd try to go find a different film studio to run. 😉
This book is for the people who love the glamorous life of the rich and famous--and their drama! From faked paternity tests to shady business dealings, this book has the perfect makings of a telenovela. I think my biggest complaint with this book was the development of the second chance romance meets enemies to lovers. Esme and Rodrigo were mad at each other for about two minutes before they started making eyes at each other. I was looking for more character and relationship development across the book's arc. But I think this will he easier in a sequel where we've already met some of the characters!
If you love a glamorous and drama-laden book with gorgeous Latinx characters (who doesn't??), then you definitely need to go grab this book!!
