McGlue by Ottessa Moshfegh

5.0

This is amazing, truly a 5 star book. McGlue is an alcoholic lost to the point of no real salvation, and we're dragged through the mud of his recollections of a murder he can't remember committing, as well as his childhood, adulthood, and relationship to the murdered "Johnson". He digs for his own brains through a crack in his skull while confined in a jail cell, and drinks, thinks about drinking, and goes without drinking. If you liked Robert Eggers' "The Lighthouse" then you'll probably thoroughly enjoy the experience that is this book.
