This book has That Quality to it, where you start it, instantly become invested, and can't stop reading it. I was supposed to do other things with my day but NO I had to read this book NOW. It's a really emotional story about grief and abandonment. If you are looking for a rom-com without heavy themes, this is not for you. However, if you're up for it, this one is just magical. My single complaint is that the entire tension between the romantic pairing is miscommunication and I *despise* that trope. I got Sammy to a certain extent, but then when Max got in on it too I was like ... alright guys, c'mon. If you can get past it being a constant presence in the story, the rest of the novel is fantastic!
