Just a Normal Tuesday
by Kim Turrisi
This is a book about the aftermath of a suicide. Kai and her sister Jen were close Vey close and then Jen leaves a note behind in the snail mail system that tells Kai and her parents that she died, by her own hands. Kai did not react to the news well and began to go downhill as she drinks and cuts classes to numb the pain. Then she is sent to a grief camp where she is learning how to grieve for her loss and then she meets a boy.
The positives of this story are that I was able to make one think if they are wanting to coit suicide. Knowing that pain and hardship will come if one is to die (for the most part because not every family is all loving). Another positive is that the book main character Kai is not dependent on a guy to fix her grief state over her sister. Nor does this book jump the gun and diagnose her as having any mental illnesses because she is in a normal grieving process with the loss.
Negative, the romance. Seemed just a tack in to be in a YA book since most books include a romance no matter the content of the book. Just to try to pull on some love for the target audiance. Since its minor it is not all bad but just a waste of pages.
