I hate to say it, but I think this series was a bit overhyped 🫣 Don’t get me wrong, it was still a great read, but I definitely went in assuming I was going to LOVE it as much as the similar genre readers of BookTok have.
These interconnected standalones featured a set of brothers, each with varying and complicated relationships with God, the church, and subsequently their love interests. Overall, the books were fun, sexy, and full of temptation & sin. I really enjoyed that they were mostly written as a single POV, with the small exception of confessionals in the first book and journal & article entries in the last, as romance novels usually don't put as much weight on the MMC’s perspective. The cost to this, however, was not feeling as connected to the other half of the couple and questioning their character's choices.
There were a few other small things that hindered the storylines for my own personal preferences. The plots felt fairly predictable which noticeably made me lose traction and not as eager to fly through the reads as I typically would. I am not also not a big fan of third act breakups, miscommunication tropes, or long gaps in time before the resolution or HEA.
