Moshfegh is a word wizard who can make a story where nothing really happens (outside of the main character’s thoughts) feel like an epic fantasy. The narrator is the worst kind of rich baby but she is so pragmatic that you can really see her side of things. I as a person disagree fundamentally with most things she does, but as a reader I somehow always took her side…. That’s a fun kind of introspection I wasn’t expecting from this! All in all, this is a book absolutely worth reading.
