Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas

5.0

This is my first book by Penelope Douglas and I am hooked.

Age-Gap
Forbidden Romance
Spicy spice
Slow Burn
HEA

The premise is Cole (boyfriend) and Jordyn (girlfriend) move into Cole’s dad’s house because they need to save money. There’s an instant attraction between Pike (Cole’s dad) and Jordyn. There’s some events take place and Cole absolutely Jordyn separate but she stays living with Pike. You get the drift.

It was so well done. Some age-gap stories just don’t hit, or they are rushed or it’s all about the spice. Penelope approaches this in a different way and makes it work. Wonderfully. There’s definitely emotion and a little angst, which ok I’m here for it.

The characters were also written so well, you feel what they feel and honestly, I loved Jordyn. She starts out a little meh, a bit poor me, but she does not end the book that way. Get it sister.

The spice was very nice. It is a slow burn, spice some in a bit after the half way mark, but it was worth it. The scene in her bedroom. Get some puppy pads is all I’m saying. This book is absolutely something I would re read and recommend, I will definitely be reading more Penelope Douglas.
