I knew so little about what occurred in Korea on Jeju Island after WW2. At its core a story of friendship and redemption told through women divers who sustained their families by what they caught at sea. Focused on the lives of 2 women, it covers the tragedy and trauma of their livelihood, the massacres that took place, and how perceived loyalties impacted Koreans for generations. Found it very emotional.
