The Court of Miracles by Kester Grant
3.0

First let's take a moment to appreciate how absolutely stunning this book is. *waits 5 seconds* Now for the review part! The Court of Miracles was an intriguing and rather fast-paced story set in 1800s France. Our main gal Nina was a BADASS and her love for her sisters (blood or not) was commendable. I mean I would probably act EXACTLY the same.
But sadly I didn't enjoy this book as much as I wanted to - the plot was oftentimes confusing and the time jumps were just too much especially when there were no indicators of the time passing (such as the beginning of the chapter saying "2 years later").
I do believe however that the sequels could be spectacular so I am excited to read them! Characters-wise I adored Nina's relationship with little Ettie and I was happy to see that this was the center of the story.

There was no apparent romantic thread despite Nina having 3 (??) possible love interests (do I have a favourite in that department in case the story does develop in the direction of a love story? HELLS YES, I mean the stoic revolutionary St. Juste stole my heart right away. There is nothing like a character with zero sense of humor). BUT I did love this multiple-possible-love-interests thread. I saw some people complaining about it but hello the girl is young and her lovelife is not the most important part of her story, eh eh? Let her develop feelings for a certain someone (St. Juste! St. Juste) in good time, okay!

I gave The Court of Miracles 3.5/5 stars. BUT I am really excited for the sequels! I would love to get more from all these characters and the historic aspects of it (especially when told in the "legend" format) gave me chills!
