Rai Volume 2: Battle for New Japan by Matt Kindt

Still a great looking comic.
Story-wise this second volume is a step forward. Now that the world and the characters are established and the main character knows his purpose the book focuses on the attempt to bring Father, New Japan’s omnipotent and omniscient ruler down. But to have a chance for that to happen the Anti-tech revolutionaries and the positronic AIs must overcome their own issues with each other.
The relationships between humans and their AI companions and also between New Japan and Earth come into sharper focus in this second volume.
I really enjoyed this. And having all these different worlds/eras on the different levels of New Japan not only gives the artist a lot of opportunity to shine but also brings some welcome variety for the reader.
