The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
3.0
I'm not sure if it was me or the book, but it kind of fizzled out halfway through. On paper, The Eyre Affair sounds very much like a book I'd enjoy. Lots of references to classic literature, a remaking of Jane Eyre, plasma guns, time travel, a strong heroine. I just couldn't get into it, I guess.
I also had problems with the book being in first person narrative most of the time and then popping out into third person. It's pretty jarring when the main character disappears from a scene, but *someone* still continues describing the scene. The evil villain is also too one dimensional and too muahahahaha evil.
