Very pleasant book to read, with plenty of quirky characters and situations well taken from Indian culture, with several intense emotional moments that left me gasping and making faces for passers-by.
However, to be able to enjoy it, you must not take the narrator seriously.
After all, if this man was capable of doing so much and so well, how could he ever be such a narrow minded simpleton with philosophical takes on the world (and love and whatnot) worthy of a geeky 16 year old?
It becomes quite fairy tale-ish at times, with the main character being loved and respected by everyone and the tragedies that befall him being magically solved (*cough* dead people coming back).
So, all in all, if you can read the flurry of "pearls of wisdom" diagonally and stay a bit aloof of the lack of reality.. it can be quite a great experience.
And that's what counts.
