Auxier developed his series and improved upon the original. I'm glad I continued with the series, reading about Sophie was well worth it. I'd also like to add that Sophie Quire is undoubtedly a child of color - she is described as having very dark skin and hair. Love it! There is a dearth of middle grade fantasy with ethnic protagonists, so I will definitely be sharing this with children in the future.
