5.0

Hetty Plumtree is still trying to marry off all 5 of her grandchildren, she has succeeded with 3 of them now Gabriel is up and his heart is the most reckless and already on close terms with death, is she cannot get him to fall in love and forgive himself for the death of his best friend she is not sure if she can save him. This time though she mayhap gets caught in her own trap.
Lord Gabriel Sharpe, the Angel Death as he is known the racing circles, knows he must get married so that is youngest sister will be forced to marry or blame only herself for the lost of her inheritance. Her knows how stubborn she is, and right now her dug her heels in on getting married. He also the woman that he will convince to be his bride. Miss Virginia Waverly is the sister of his best friend, the one he killed in a race 7 years ago. He will convince her that without him her options are not great living on a farm she will not inherit because of the death of her brother it will transfer to her cousin, a bigger rakehell than Gabe's oldest brother. He does except to fall in love with the beautiful young miss, but after winning a race against her to win the right to court her and to hear her concern for her safety how can not fall under her spell?
Miss Virginia Waverly had other plans, she mad at Lord Gabriel for defying death every opportunity and taking the name Angel of Death. He should have pulled up during the race with her brother, he should not have godded her brother into the race knowing how drunk he was, he should have died - no, she always kept that thought at bay. neither of should have been threading the needle that day, both should should be alive. So she challgenes him to race the same course, and if she won he was to admit to killing her brother and stop using the name Angel of Death. The only way to get him to accept her challage is race home in a tamer course, if shevwinsvthebthreadbthe needle, if he win - the only downside, or is it? - he gets to court her and try to win her hand.
As with all Ms. Jeffries books, this story fun of regency fun, and a spitfire heroine who gives her hero a run for his money, or his heart. This time in Miss Waverly's grandfather, Cornel Waverly, Hetty finds a man that wakes her senses like none since her late husband. All around Good read, must have you are reading the Hellionsnof Halstead Hall, if not, a great book by itself.
