To be quite frank, I feel as though this story lacks much.

Sometimes, it felt as though this was less mystery or thriller and more akin instead to a literary fiction that is centered around a tragedy (Bear's death).

This doesn't feel like a horror, or a thriller there is nothing thrilling about this book and the horrors that existed were merely expected reflections once you realized you are following a rich family where every patriarch is named Peter.

I felt a lot for some of these characters and others I felt nothing for.

When it comes to the "twist," I feel as though it was painfully obvious. No one was surprised. The type of panic you expected was not present in the slightest, and it was just clear that, at the very least, Barbara's disappearance was a lot less of a repeated tragedy and more of an orchestrated difference.

I just...felt wholly defeated in this story. There was nothing satisfying or uplifting at the end that made the story feel concluded.

I felt like we just ran around in circles for almost 500 pages when the answers were glowing, throwing themselves right at our face, and yet we pretended they were not there.

Some part of me thinks that was the point, but it didn't feel like it was executed in the way the author intended. The answers were always obvious, but it didn't feel like they were supposed to be THAT obvious.
