Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

3.0

This is the only book from this series I am likely to read firstly because it was the only couple from the show that really interested me and secondly because I don’t really love the writing. It’s easy to read quickly of course, but I don’t think the author has much skill. In the ways of fan fiction, it often switched perspectives awkwardly in the middle of a scene.

Mostly I felt the author struggled to connect the character she started with (kind, goofy, basically a sweet heart) with how she normally wrote men in this genre (hotheaded, angry, possessive). He would switch violently from one to the other. Also, the progression of the romance was just too fast for me, especially contrasting the idea that Penelope was supposed to be in love all along and Colin was supposed to suddenly realize she was attractive.

Just very meh.
