I had to restart the book due to a reading slump, and I ended up finishing it in five days - that’s how much I enjoyed this story. The only reason this wasn’t a 5-star read was the slow beginning as the story tries to find its pace, and there is a small side issue that bugged me, about what Abby and Rhys found in that one abandoned house. We never hear about that again. I listened to the audiobook, and with the last 5 chapters, I had to grab my book and follow along as I listened; that’s how invested I was. When the action picked up, it picked up full speed.
I loved the characters and the friendship between Abby, Rhys, Riya, and Connor. Their friendship is more like a found family, and I adored that. Abby and Hope’s sisterly relationship was amazing and so inspiring. I shipped Abby and Rhys from the very beginning. Even the town of Blighty was a character in the story.
The whole concept of the Stitcher, this small town’s own boogyman/urban legend, was amazingly detailed and creepy as hell. The whole plot and backstory we get is so detailed and so freaking awesome. I love the way the book led you in one direction because that’s the direction the characters are going, only to completely spin you around and make you question everything you know so far.
Overall, this was yet another amazing book by Darcy Coates. I can’t wait to read what she comes out with next.
